Welcome to the WB0RXX home page!I have been a licensed Amateur Radio operator since 1974 and have held an Amateur Extra class license since 1977. Over the past three decades, I have worked all bands from 185 KHz to 440 MHz, and have used such esoteric modes as FSTV, SSTV, Packet, Satellite, EME, and Meteor scatter. I have been chased as DX, sailed the Caribbean as a maritime mobile, and even tried my hand at aeronautical mobile a few times. And since owning my first car, I have always had a mobile Amateur radio station installed.I hate all contests and the QRM that they bring. Instead, I would rather rag chew and get to know someone, rather than exchanging some bogus "You're 5-9 but missed your name and QTH" type signal report. DXing is okay, but I couldn't care less about chasing it. Experimenting is my forte, and learning something new is my passion. Much of my career advancements can be attributed to Amateur Radio. The experience that I acquired in getting a ham ticket allowed me to breeze through electronics technical school and graduate with honors. This knowledge carried me though many tough troubleshooting problem, which ET school did not quite cover in great detail. Over the years I have held a number of callsigns, but WB0RXX is the oldest (since 1976.) Before that, I was a Novice as WN0NYR, and I had a brief flirtations with both Army MARS (ADM0RXX) and Navy MARS (NNN0TYM.) Lest I forget, I held KG4TM for almost 14 years while stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I am a firm believer in giving back to the community, so I have been active in the VE program pretty much since its inception. In addition, I have taught numerous ham radio classes, and elmered countless new hams from setting up their first station, to making their initial QSO, and beyond. This, in my opinion, is what ham radio is all about -- helping your fellow amateur. Thanks for stopping by! Hpe to cu agn soon. Have a great day and 73 de Tim |
